This Panasonic MC-CG917 OptiFlow Bag Canister vacuum is 100% all that you need for your entire house.  It's been a year that I've owned and used this vacuum. I thought it important to add an update so here it is: This is an EXCELLENT vacuum and works as well a year later as it did upon purchase.

Had recently bought an inexpensive bagless after my expensive Kenmore died. Big mistake. Unless you don't live in an urban apartment and can empty bag outside, emptying a bagless spreads dust and filth all around. Overall I'm very pleased with this vacuum.

The power head works very well on all types of carpet that I've tried it on, ranging from a very thin throw rug to a thick pile. The height adjustment is easy to do, and I had no problems finding a setting that cleaned a thin throw rug without having the vac try to consume the rug. It excels in the areas that are most important in a vacuum - it picks up dirt very well and it is solidly built.

• Not much, really, but it's a little large

This vacuum is super easy to put together and the quality of the construction is very good for this day and age of cheap crappy plastic. It's still plastic, but there is some metal (at least what feels like it). It's also made in Mexico, not China. I have used a number of vacuum cleaners in the past couple of years and this is my favorite of the bunch.

Excellent price, in my opinion, for all the included features and accessories. Overall pretty quiet operation compared to the Eureka Boss upright we were getting rid of. Of course, it's louder with the power nozzle turned on, but still overall fairly quiet.
